Transferring command away from the autopilot to the TS-202 remote is easily done by holding down both the red and green course change buttons for 2 to 3 seconds. This model has three different modes: standby, tiller and pilot. The standby mode is a safety feature that allows the remote control to deactivate autopilot output to the steering drive unit and give manual control of the vessel to operator. In tiller mode, the vessel's rudder directly follows the position of the TS-202 remote lever. In Pilot mode, the ComNav 1001, 1101, 2001 or 5001 Autopilot will lock on the present course and the remote control port and starboard push buttons can be used for making course changes. Course changes can be made a degree at a time with each push button press or, large course changes by holding the push buttons down.
