Description: The purpose of the panel is to switch, monitor and protect by fuse or circuit breaker each navigation and signal light. The panel consists of a front plate with switches, indicators, and a chassis attached to the front plate. The chassis contains circuit boards for monitoring each light circuit and each voltage input. The light circuits are connected via twin numbered terminal in the chassis. A wiring diagram is supplied to show the layout of the terminals. Lights are shown on a mimic of the vessel or christmas tree.
Operation: Each light circuit is supervised by indirect current monitoring so there is no electrical connection between the light circuit and the monitoring circuit. There is no load or voltage drop caused by the monitoring circuit. With the light switched on proper function of the light is shown by an illuminated LED or two LED where a ships mimic is displayed. The brightness of LED can be adjusted but can not be dimmed to zero. If the lamp circuit is defective, ie. blown fuse, short circuit, open circuit, the corresponding LED will start flashing and an audible alarm will sound and will stay on until the alarm is acknowledged. The audible alarm can be silenced but the LED will continue to flash until corrective action is taken. All subsequent failures before the first is cleared will again sound the audible alarm again and have to be acknowledged. The visual signal of the flashing LED will stay lit for each circuit where a failure is detected until each circuit is repaired. Failure of the detector circuit does not affect the operation of the lights. Failure of the main voltage feed will cause an alarm and the panel will automatically switch to the secondary supply.
